Potatoes and fording rivers (Boise, ID to Ontario, OR)

This old guy outside the coffee shop wouldn’t stop talking about how much he loves his recumbent bike

All morning we were on a mission to find potatoes because we wanted to find some before leaving Idaho. After checking a few fields we stopped at a produce stand and asked if a nearby field was a potato field. They said no but their potatoes were about a mile away. They gave us directions and met us at the field.

We spent about half an hour digging potatoes with the farmers. They had a number of different types and taught us a lot about potatoes.

The guy in red is the farmer, it was a family business

Victory!

Let me know if it gets there guys

I also sent some in a box in case this one doesn’t make it

“What?”

“Yeah, I know it’s big”

After making many Oregon Trail references we decided that when we got to Oregon we had to ford the river. Here Lisa surveys the conditions while we weighed our options. We concluded that caulking and floating the wagons would take too long, so we swam it. (Oregon is on the other bank)

Looking back at Idaho after swimming

This had to do because there was no state sign

Cooking some of our potatoes. So good!
